“The safety and well-being of our staff and players is of paramount importance to us.”

Covid-19 safety planning

During the Covid-19 pandemic we set up a ‘covid safe’ plan which would enable our players to continue training - whilst also minimising the potential for germs to be spread between players.

The plan was submitted to Planet Ice Leeds and subsequently approved.

This was communicated to all players with the expressed warning that if adherance to the guidelines was not followed, they would be at risk of being exited from the team.

We are very proud to say that none of our players tested positive for Covid-19, nor did they display any symptoms.

Our Covid safety plan

The team was split into groups of 6 when on the ice.

  • Each group was assigned a group leader.

  • Allocation of a changing space at the side of the rink (not changing rooms).

  • Once everyone in their group had arrived outside the rink, group leaders lead their group to a rink side space in order to change - making sure they were socially distanced from other groups.

  • Each group leader was in charge of setting up their allocated station. Group 1 for station 1, group 2 for station 2 etc.

  • Group leaders were the ONLY ones on the ice when stations were being set up at the start.

  • Groups could NOT get on the ice until their group leaders called their group number to enter the ice and to their station.

  • Groups would enter the ice in order, group 1 to station 1, group 2 to station 2 and we used 4 entry points at the rink for the 6 groups to enter and exit the ice pad.

  • Masks had to be worn at all times unless on the ice.

  • All players must use hand sanitising stations upon arrival at the rink.

  • Minimum of 1-2m social distancing off ice.

  • No mixing of groups on or off the ice.

  • Groups entered and exited the rink 1 group at a time.

  • Players took their water bottles around each station with them to avoid mixing groups for drink breaks.

  • If any player was unwell, they were not permitted to attend training for 1 week.

  • Players and coaches only allowed at training (no spectators or injured players).
