Andy Giles - Coach (1 & 3)

Andy started playing at 10 years old in Grimsby and progressed through the youth teams before heading over to Hull, where he captained Humberside’s U21s to the UK National Championship, and went on to play a season with the Humberside Hawks in the BPL and for the Hull Jets in ED1.

After a break of 13 years, and while living in the US, Andy played recreational hockey in the San Francisco beer league with the SF Ruins for a few years. He moved back to the UK in June 2020 and joined the Warriors a year later.

Andy is also one of the Alternate Captains in the Warriors 1 team and plays alongside his brother and Captain, Chris Giles.

Andy has to wear two hats as he is both the joint-coach of Warriors 1 (alongside Dylan Noonan) and the Development Coach!

Here’s a few words from Andy regarding his development coaching:

"As development coach, my priority is to provide a framework that helps the players develop the basic fundamentals of the game, from skating to passing to shooting to positional awareness. It’s rewarding to see the improvement in the players and my goal is to help them progress to Warriors 2 level.”

Andy Giles - Warriors 3 Coach

Andy takes the Warriors 1 training on Friday nights between 10:15m and 11:15pm and the development training sessions are on Sunday nights between 8.30pm and 9.30pm (usually assisted by Warriors 2 Coach, Niks Kamaldins).

For both sessions, Andy prepares the drills in advance of each session and tells the team what the focus will be for that week.

These are well structured sessions which focus on system drills and positioning for Warriors 1 - whereas for Warriors 3, the main focus is on the fundamentals of ice hockey.
