Awards Night 2025 - the Winners
On Saturday 4th October 2025 we had our fourth ever awards evening to celebrate both our team and individual achievements from the 2024-25 season.
This was held at Mad Frans on Whitehall Road, Leeds.
Most Improved player
The ‘Most Improved Player’ award lies at the heart of our club’s philosophy. What sets us apart is our three-tier development pathway, designed to help players grow and progress to the next level. This award recognises those who have shown a consistent hunger to learn, week after week. Their commitment to improvement has shone through as they’ve listened to their coach, embraced feedback, and put in the hard work to realise their potential.
Phil Pearce
Most Improved Player - Warriors 3
Of all the awards the coach had to give out, this one was the best easiest to pick. This player has been playing for less than a year, and has gone from pretty much a total beginner to a solid, smart player who can make plays. Well done Phil Pearce.
Arek Koziel
Most Improved Player - Warriors 2
Arek has enjoyed a fantastic season. A long-serving member of the Warriors, this year he truly found his rhythm on the ice. His passion for the game shines through every time he plays — and it clearly shows in his performances. Although he couldn’t attend Awards Night, he’s pictured here proudly receiving his award from Club Manager, Lisa Speed.
Harvey Galloway
Most Improved Player - Warriors 1
What a season it’s been for this young man. In his very first year with the club, he stepped straight into the first team and immediately showcased his natural ability and huge potential. Week by week, his progress has been remarkable. Having only played hockey for 2–3 years and turning 19 during the season, reaching this level so quickly is nothing short of exceptional. After spending much of the campaign chasing his first goal, he capped things off perfectly with a standout performance — registering 2+3 in our final game and earning the Player of the Game award. A fantastic debut season and a player with a very bright future — one to watch!
Coach’s Award
The Coach’s Award celebrates players who are a true pleasure to coach — those who consistently put the team above themselves. These individuals embody commitment, teamwork, and positivity, leading by example both on and off the ice. They work tirelessly, lift those around them, and represent the very spirit and culture our club strives to uphold.
Kieran High
Coach’s Award - Warriors 3
For Warriors 3, this award went to a player who could also have won the Most Improved Player award too. He brings a great attitude to every session and game, plays hard and never complains. Well done Kieran High.
James Way
Coach’s Award - Warriors 2
Another long-standing member of the club, James has been a model of consistency and reliability throughout the season. Equally comfortable in defence or his preferred forward role, he’s a versatile player who brings great balance to the team. Combined with his outstanding attitude and positive presence in the locker room, James is exactly the kind of teammate every squad needs.
Chris Scampton
Coach’s Award - Warriors 1
Another Warriors 1 player who made the step up from Warriors 2, this was Chris’s debut season in the first team — and what a season it was. Chris brings an outstanding attitude to everything he does. He works hard, battles relentlessly, and never complains, no matter which line he’s asked to play on. He’s been a fantastic addition to the squad, contributing both on and off the ice, and has fitted in seamlessly with his teammates. His efforts were also reflected on the scoresheet, recording an impressive 4+6 for the season. A true team player and a pleasure to have in the first team setup. Well done Chris Scampton.
- Chris couldn’t make it to the Awards Night but will collect his award at training.
Best Forward
The Best Forward award recognises the player who carries the greatest impact offensively — the one whose absence would be felt most on the ice. While often among the top goal scorers, this honour isn’t just about individual brilliance or end-to-end plays. It celebrates the forward who makes their line click, elevating the performance of everyone around them and driving the team’s attacking success through skill, vision, and chemistry.
Andis Jansons
Best Forward - Warriors 3
There were a number of forwards in consideration for this award, but overall, Andis Jansons had the most consistent impact up front for the team this year. Unfortunately, Andis wasn’t able to make it - and sadly, he may not be with us next season either. Our loss will be Bradford’s gain. Well done Andis Jansons.
Adam Tomlinson
Best Forward - Warriors 2
Adam has taken his game to another level this season, emerging as the primary offensive force for the Warriors 2 team. With his impressive skating speed, sharp technique, and relentless drive, he’s been a constant menace for opposing defences all year long.
Mitch White
Best Forward - Warriors 1
As the Coach said on the night, “What more is there to say about this guy?”. He scored 1/3 of our first team’s total goals for the season on his own . Enough said. It can only be — the legend and freshly married Mitch White. Well done Mitch!
Best Defence
At the other end of the ice, we have the Best Defence award. Behind every great forward is an amazing defence. They are there when the pressure ramps up. The best D can keep a calm and level head whilst orchestrating the beginning of a great play. It’s often a thankless job but everyone knows that without good D a team can easily collapse.
Connor Brocklebank
Best Defence - Warriors 3
Coach Andy Giles said he felt that the development team’s D was its biggest strength this year — they were able to put out 3 solid D partnerships all season. Like the Best Forward award, there were a number of candidates but this guy was chosen for his consistent commitment and steady improvement over the last couple of seasons.
Well done Connor Brocklebank.
Luke Cadman
Best Defence - Warriors 2
No surprise here — Luke is a smooth, composed player who brings real class to the ice. A strong skater with great control on the puck, he provides exactly the kind of calm, reliable presence every team wants on defence.
Tyler Heming
Best Defence - Warriors 1
One of our most consistent performers last season, Tyler approaches every game with calm efficiency and rock-solid dependability. His defensive reliability has become a cornerstone of the team — not only shutting down opposition attacks but also contributing when we push forward. Ty’s ability to read the game and transition play makes him invaluable at both ends of the ice. He tallied 2+7 for the season, but we can only imagine how many goals and chances he prevented at the other end!
Most Valuable Player (MVP)
The MVP is recognition of the name who is always first on your team sheet. It’s the person who you know will be there each week without fail. They amplify the team’s performance and make the biggest difference on the ice.
Jonjo Marshall
Most Valuable Player - Warriors 3
This player was chosen because, despite having not been playing hockey all that long, he has had a big impact already. He works his arse off every shift and despite his lack of height, he makes an impact every game.
Well done Jonjo Marshall.
Ben Briggs
Most Valuable Player - Warriors 2
Ben truly stood out last season, overcoming the challenges of recovering from a car accident to deliver some outstanding performances. His progress as a netminder has been remarkable, and he’s become incredibly tough to beat between the pipes. We’re fortunate to have a goalie of his quality and resilience guarding the net for our second team.
Posting on his social media, here’s what Ben had to say:
”It's been a difficult season for me personally, with all the stuff that happened at the start of this season and the drama around that, to getting in that car crash in March, and having to build myself back up again. But I wouldn't be here today without you fabulous lot in front of me, working every shift and putting the grind in at training. Massive shout-out to all the other goalies and off ice folks who make this club tick. I'm not going just yet, still here for another season. Who knows what will happen after that but let's hit the ground running. Thanks.”
Dylan Noonan
Most Valuable Player - Warriors 1
All of the Warriors 1 awards were a collaboration between joint-coaches Andy Giles and Dylan Noonan - except this one! This award went to the guy who consistently makes things happen on the ice - both in the opponent’s end AND in our zone — a proper 2-way player.
When we need to push for a crucial goal, he’s usually right in the middle of making it happen.
Well done Dylan Noonan.
Player’s player
Player’s player is the one everyone really wants as this is recognition from your peers. You could simply be the best player or you could be selfless - or just a great person in the locker room. Someone others look up to.
It’s a real recognition of the high regard you are held in by your peers and something you should cherish.
Kieran High
Player’s Player - Warriors 3
Building on his W3 Coach’s Award win, Kieran added the Players’ Player award to his collection this season. Earning both honours says it all — he’s held in the highest regard by both his coach and teammates, recognised not only for his performances on the ice but also for the character and attitude he brings to the team.
Here’s some comments we received about Kieran from his peers who voted for him:
”Absolute unit at the back. Can always rely on him and he has progressed so much in the last 12 months”
”Consistently supporting on and off the ice”
”He has made the most improvement of all the team and works hard every time he is on the ice”
Luke Cadman
Player’s Player - Warriors 2
In addition to earning the Best Defence award, Luke also claimed the coveted Players’ Player honour — a true testament to the respect and admiration he’s earned from his teammates. It’s one of the most meaningful accolades a player can receive, and Luke’s recognition is thoroughly deserved.
Here’s some comments we received about Luke from his peers who voted for him:
”Mr Consistent”
”Rarely misses training or a game and when he does you notice it. He’s quietly become our best defence-man”
”He’s always got the best attitude to games and training”
”Always puts in 110% and is a genuinely good guy”
Callum Greenhalgh
Player’s Player - Warriors 1
Another newcomer to Warriors 1, this player made a huge impact from day one. A true Warrior on the ice, you can always count on him to have your back — the kind of teammate every player wants beside them. Callum is a rock-solid defence-man who never shies away from the hard work and does it all with quiet determination. Off the ice, he’s just as valuable — a genuine, positive presence in the locker room. Earning the Players’ Player Award in his debut season speaks volumes about both his influence on the ice and how effortlessly he’s become part of the team.
Here’s some comments we received about Callum from his peers who voted for him:
”Always digs deep every shift, amazing team player and the best team mate. Get this guy a letter to wear!”
”He will always put his team-mates first”
”Very big team player and doesn’t take any shit”
”He may be new but it feels like he’s been with us for years - great guy from day one”
Club Award
This award is voted on by the committee, and is awarded to an individual who volunteers their own time, and makes it their personal mission to promote, improve and support the club wherever they can. The Club Award is given to an individual who bleeds Warriors. It wasn’t a difficult decision this year as one individual definitely stood out.
So your 2025 Club Award winner is:
Gary Clough
Big thanks to Gary, he’s genuinely been amazing this year with his work to arrange this awards evening, and also with the setting up of a development tournament which will be a really good addition for development hockey in the region.
Gary Clough
Club Award
Chairman’s Award
This award is chosen by the current Chairperson, and is given to an individual who they feel deserves special recognition for their contributions to the club, not just for the last year, but throughout their time with us.
There isn’t really a set criteria for this award, but for me this time around this individual shows unwavering commitment to the Warriors. Reliable on the ice, reliable at upholding our clubs values and reputation, and does everything they can to ensure this club is the best it can be.
This individual is part of the furniture, and has been here since the beginning. They are the reason we are able to go on our website and look back fondly on all the highs and lows of our time at the Warriors, the wins, the losses, the comebacks and the ‘fracases’.
They have been committed from day one and remain so to this day.
If you hadn’t guessed it already your Chairman Award winner is:
Chris Giles
Chris Giles
Chairman’s Award
What a fun night it was! The drinks were flowing and everyone seemed to have a good time! For those who couldn’t make it, we missed you but hopefully we’ll see you next year!
Special mentions to Kieran High - who picked up his teams Coach’s Award and Player’s Player Award - and to Luke Cadman who picked up Best Defence and Player’s Player Awards. What a season for those two!
On behalf of all who attended, a huge thanks to all the organisers for making it happen. We really appreciate the massive effort you all went to!
Bring on the new season!
