Born in Middlesbrough, Paddy now lives in Manchester. He’s been around hockey since a young age as his Dad refereed UK and international hockey until he was 10, when he retired. 

Paddy was away from hockey until 2017 and was 24 when he started playing rec in Hull. He played around a dozen games at KC Knights before moving to Manchester in 2018. 

He didn’t register with a rec team for several seasons but still iced/trained up to 6 nights a week (sometimes as many as 9 times in 7 days). 

He began refereeing in late 2018 and made it to senior hockey within a year - just before Covid hit. He refereed through the NIHL1 lockdown/streaming series in 2021 and graduated to refereeing up to Elite League at the start of the 2021/2022 season.
