Warriors² fall to the Nomads

On Sunday 29th March 2026 our Warriors² team welcomed Pollington Nomads to Planet Ice for a challenge game.

This was the Warriors second game of the weekend, having beaten Hull Knights B the previous night in an IHSC Cup fixture - so we expected the players to have some achey legs going into this one.

This was the second ever meeting between the two teams, with the Warriors taking an 8-3 victory in the previous game on 30th March 2025.

Dressed players

Ben Briggs (NM), Howard Barwick (C), Luke Cadman, Corey Clough-Howard, Dale Sunderland, James Way, Mo Lin, Tim Lyndon-Belt, Rhys Shears, Petr Dostal, Ivans Lebedjoks, Matt Bolan, Leo Wright, Gareth Lumley, Dexter Duffy-Howard, Sam Stokes, Simon Davis, Chris Hamilton, Arek Koziel, Cain Turner, David Gorog and Andrew Everson.

1st period

The Nomads struck first at 3:22, taking an early 0–1 lead, but the Warriors responded almost immediately.

Just 25 seconds later, Sam Stokes levelled the game at 3:47, finishing a play assisted by Matt Bolan to make it 1–1.

A Nomads bench penalty for too many men at 4:32 gave the Warriors an early power-play opportunity, but they were unable to capitalise.

Midway through the period, a hooking penalty on Cain Turner (15:00) shifted momentum, and the Nomads made it count - scoring a power-play goal at 16:12 to regain the lead.

The period ended 2–1 to the Nomads, with both teams showing attacking intent.

Warriors 1-2 Nomads

2nd period

The Warriors came out strong in the second period and found an equaliser at 24:26, with Andrew Everson finishing from Mo Lin to make it 2–2.

However, the Nomads responded almost instantly at 24:56, restoring their lead and continuing the theme of quick-fire momentum swings. 2-3 to Nomads.

The Warriors hit back once more at 29:27, with Matt Bolan scoring from Sam Stokes, levelling the game at 3–3.

A late interference penalty on Dexter Duffy-Howard (37:50) put the Warriors under pressure heading into the third, but they held firm to keep the game tied at 3-3.

The Warriors had won the period 2-1 and put themselves in a good position going into the final period.

Warriors 3-3 Nomads

3rd period

The final period opened with a tripping penalty on captain Howard Barwick (40:21), but the Warriors killed it off and gradually built momentum.

Their breakthrough came at 49:48, when Mo Lin fired the Warriors into the lead for the first time, assisted by Gareth Lumley, making it 4–3. The Warriors were now in the lead for the first time in the game, with the game approaching the final 10 minutes.

The Nomads were then penalised again for too many men at 51:59, giving the Warriors a chance to extend their lead - or wind the clock down - but the game turned shortly after.

A boarding penalty on Tim Lyndon-Belt at 54:32 proved costly, with the Nomads equalising on the power-play at 56:28 to make it 4–4.

With the game seemingly heading toward a draw, the Nomads struck very late at 59:21, taking a 5–4 lead in the dying moments and breaking Warriors’ hearts.

A late holding penalty on Arek Koziel (59:31) ended any realistic chance of a final push, and the Warriors were unable to recover.

Final score:

Warriors 4-5 Nomads

Points scorers :

Sam Stokes 1+1

Matt Bolan 1+1

Mo Lin

Player Of The Game

Chris Hamilton

Captain’s Helmet

The Player Of The Game for the Warriors (as selected by the Nomads) went to Mo Lin and the Captain’s Helmet went to Chris Hamilton. Well played lads.

This was a game defined by momentum swings and fine margins. The Warriors showed resilience to come back multiple times and take a late lead, but penalties at key moments proved costly.

Despite strong performances from Bolan, Stokes, and Mo Lin, the late power-play goal and last-minute strike from the Nomads ultimately decided the game.

The teams next game in the IHSC Cup is at home to Telford Spartans. See details below:
