Warriors³ versus Renegades

On Saturday 4th April 2026, our development team welcomed the Blackburn Renegades to Planet Ice, Leeds for a BOTB Cup fixture.

This was our Warriors³ team’s 6th game in the Bottom of the Barrel (BOTB) Cup and their first game against Blackburn Renegades. Still searching for their first victory of the campaign, they knew it would be a tough challenge against a Blackburn-based team. This game also marked Sam Crossland’s debut for the Warriors.

Dressed players:

Kieran High (NM), Ash Davies, Brendan Hullah, Charlie Tang, Connor Brocklebank, Craig Baker, Freddy Monk, Gary Clough, Philip Bradley, Phil Pearce, Stella Giwisser, Heather McCarten, Paul Eaglestone, Sam Crossland, Josh Moss and Zach Huntley.

1st period:

The Warriors couldn’t have asked for a better opening, taking the lead just 1:00 into the game. Phil Bradley scoring his first ever goal for the team! Finishing a quick early chance, assisted by Phil Pearce - giving the Warriors a 1–0 advantage.

The Warriors looked sharp early on, applying pressure and setting the tone, but the Renegades gradually grew into the game.

The Renegades found their equaliser at 9:07, with #98 scoring from #74 to level things at 1–1.

The remainder of the period was closely contested, with both sides creating chances but unable to find a breakthrough before the intermission.

Warriors 1-1 Renegades

2nd period:

The second period proved decisive.

After only 46 seconds of the restart, the Renegades edged ahead (20:46) with #74 getting on the scoresheet, before extending their lead at 30:48 through #8, making it 3–1.

The Warriors battled on valiantly, trying to create their own scoring opportunities, but the Renegades defence held firm and limited any clear chances in front of goal.

Warriors 1-3 Renegades

3rd period:

The final period became increasingly scrappy, with multiple penalties disrupting Warriors’ rhythm.

Minor penalties for slashing, high-sticking, and tripping against the Warriors made it difficult to build sustained pressure or mount a comeback.

Despite continued effort and a push late in the game, the Warriors were unable to break through, while the Renegades managed the game effectively to close out the win.

Final score:

Warriors 1-3 Renegades

Points scorers:

Phil Bradley 1+0

Phil Pearce 0+1

Charlie Tang

Player of the game

Phil Bradley

Captain’s POTG

Player of the Game, as selected by the Renegades, went to Charlie Tang, while the Captain’s Helmet went to Phil Bradley - who scored his first Warriors goal! Well played lads.

A strong start gave our guys early momentum, but the Renegades responded well and capitalised on their chances in the second period to take control.

Discipline in the third period limited the Warriors’ ability to chase the game, as the Renegades saw out a composed away victory.
