Our Warriors 2 team returned to action in the Ice Hockey Summer Classic Cup with a tough road fixture against the Sheffield Ice Tigers. This was the return fixture of January’s 6–4 defeat in Leeds.

1st period
The hosts started strongly and dominated the opening period, putting four unanswered goals past the Warriors to establish an early 4–0 lead. It was a punishing 20 minutes for Leeds, who struggled to find rhythm or time on the puck against a sharp Sheffield side.

2nd period
However, the second period saw a much-improved performance from the Warriors. The breakthrough came at 35:53 when Jamie Thurston lit the lamp, finishing a well-worked play assisted by Ellen Gallimore. The goal sparked some belief in the Leeds bench, and the Warriors’ more disciplined play helped them edge the period 1–0, cutting the deficit to 4–1 heading into the final frame.

3rd period
Momentum continued early in the third, with captain Howard Barwick stepping up and finding the back of the net off an assist from Lewis Astill. At 4–2, the game felt very much alive and the Warriors were threatening to mount a comeback. But the Ice Tigers quickly re-grouped, regaining control and netting four more goals to put the game out of reach. The final score-line read 8–2 in favour of Sheffield.
Final score :
