Warriors 3 edge past the Ice Wolves

On Sunday 1st June 2025, our development team welcomed their regular sparring partners, Bradford Ice Wolves to Leeds for a challenge game.

The Warriors and the Bradford Ice Wolves have faced each other twice previously this season. On both occasions the games were played in Bradford. The first was a fiercely contested match-up on 21st December 2024 which ended in a 4-4 draw and more recently, on 19th April 2025 the Warriors edged a 4-5 win. So we were expecting another close and exciting game this time round!

1st period

The opening period was a cagey affair, but the Warriors found the breakthrough thanks to Jonjo Marshall, who capitalised on a neat set-up from Tomasz Molenda to put the home side up 1–0.

Solid defending and goaltending ensured the score stayed that way heading into the first intermission.

Warriors 1-0 Ice Wolves

2nd period

The game burst into life in the second, as both teams traded blows in a goal-laden 20 minutes.

Connor Brocklebank made it 2–0 for Leeds, assisted by Jared Weldon, before Charlie Tang extended the lead with an unassisted third.

The Ice Wolves responded to keep themselves in the contest, but the Warriors’ top line struck again—Marshall notched his second of the night, combining once more with Molenda and Phil Bradley.

Despite Bradford pulling a couple of goals back, Marshall completed his hat-trick with a brilliant solo effort at 39:12, giving Leeds a 5-3 cushion heading into the final period.

Warriors 5-3 Ice Wolves

3rd period

With the game still within reach for Bradford, the next goal was crucial - and it was the hosts who struck first. Molenda, who had been instrumental all night, got a deserved goal of his own, assisted by Craig Baker, to make it 6-3.

Bradford fought back to cut the deficit and make it a nervy finish, but the Warriors showed composure under pressure. Jared Weldon added the seventh goal, assisted by Dale Bedford, before Weldon then turned play-maker to set up Freddy Monk, sealing the game and ensuring a well-earned win.
