Warriors 3 edge past the Ice Wolves

On Saturday 19th April 2025, our development team travelled to Bradford to play the Ice Wolves in a challenge game.

The Warriors and the Bradford Ice Wolves faced off in a tightly contested match-up on 21st December last year and that game ended in a 4-4 draw - so we were expecting another close and exciting game this time round.

Dressed players:

Simon Bainbridge (NM), Adam Szabo, Andis Jansons, Charlie Tang, Connor Brocklebank, Craig Baker, Dean Cadman, Freddy Monk, Jared Weldon, Josh Moss, Paul Eaglestone, Phil Bradley, Phil Pearce, Sam Stokes, Simon Davis, Tomasz Molenda and Zach Huntley.

1st period

The opening period saw a competitive start, with thw Ice Wolves striking first at 09:21 to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Warriors responded well, and at 15:13, Sam Stokes leveled the score with a brilliant unassisted effort, bringing the game to 1-1 as the teams headed toward the first intermission.

2nd period

Midway through the second period, the Warriors found themselves on the penalty kill following a 2-minute minor at 30:32. Despite being a skater down, Sam Stokes capitalised brilliantly with a short-handed goal at 31:34 to put the Warriors 1-2 ahead. The Ice Wolves responded swiftly, equalising at 32:40 to make it 2-2. But the Warriors weren't done—at 36:08, Connor Brocklebank fired them back into the lead, making it 2-3 heading into the final stretch of the period.

The final period brought plenty of drama, with both teams pushing hard. At 46:00, Charlie Tang extended the Warriors' lead to 2-4 with a well-timed finish, assisted by Tomasz Molenda.

However, the Ice Wolves quickly responded just 54 seconds later, narrowing the gap to 3-4.

The Warriors regained breathing space at 52:14 when Andis Jansons struck, again assisted by Molenda, to make it 3-5.

The Ice Wolves refused to go quietly and pulled one back at 58:20 to set up a tense finish, but the Warriors held on to secure a 4-5 victory.
